Adding Packages to a Project

While adding packages to a Jython project can be done by adding a new folder and adding an __init__.py file in that folder, the New Wizard in the Jython perspective and the Jython Browsing perspective includes commands to create them more easily.

  1. In the Jython perspective and the Jython Browsing perspective, the New menu lists the Jython resources that can be added to the Eclipse workspace. Select "Jython Package" from the menu.

  2. The New Jython Package wizard opens. If a folder or a project was selected when choosing "Jython Package" from the new menu, the path to the folder or project will be filled in automatically, like in the screen shot below. Enter the parent folder name or press the "Browse" button to choose one in the "Choose Source Folder" dialog.

  3. Enter the name of the package.

  4. Press "Finish". A new folder containing an __init__.py file will show up in the Navigator view.
